About Shoreditch Town Hall
-
Shoreditch Town Hall was placed on English Heritage’s ‘Buildings At Risk’ register in 1996. As a result of widespread community concern, the London Borough of Hackney organised a community planning weekend to discuss the future of the building. Following the creation of a steering group, Shoreditch Town Hall Trust was subsequently formed in 1998 with a mission to restore Shoreditch Town Hall for the benefit of the local and wider communities. In 2002, the Council granted the Trust a 99 year lease of the building.
An independent charity, the Trust has raised the funds to complete the first stage of a major restoration programme and is leading the regeneration of Shoreditch Town Hall for community, cultural and business use.
